I guess I sort of always knew
Like from when at the age of two
He refused to wear and purple and said
“That’s a girl’s color, I’ll wear blue instead.”
And even when he was so small
That we thought he was a girl and all
People would mistake him for my brother
“Three sisters,” I would reply, “One after the other.”
I also knew when, last july, he started acting secretive and sly
I knew that something was going on,
But he didn’t tell me till snow covered the lawn.
After we went for a walk through the cold and the snow
He told me what he must have known I already had to know.
I told him, “I’m so glad that you finally told me,” and ,
“I’m so happy to have a boy in the family.”
I feel proud to call him my bro
I tell people and they hear and know
That I have always had a brother
The one I love more than any other.
