"The Road"

"The Road"

In the style of Mary Oliver

The river
washes all away

What is not a silent force
becomes louder the more it cries

An inland in the center
it sits lonely in the road
the road that moves
the road that carries
the road that kills
the road that falls
in a tangled stream.

The road that passes     by and by
stops for nobody
or anything
or any one.

It will not stop for you or me
whether we want to go      it will not
stay when we want to stay it goes on and
on.

Untstoppable it moves so quick     ever
moving, never stopping.

It will not stop,
though it does pause
for some rocks
in the road.
