The Risk They Call Love

By Wren Paschel-Harbour

Love is a plant. If you give it attention, show it you care, and give it its very own space in your life, odds are, it will grow, and grow, until it blossoms, bringing new and exciting beauty to life. With that said, falling in love is different. Falling in love is like jumping off a bridge and hoping there is still water below it. Love is a bird, soaring through the sky. Falling in love makes me scared, makes me feel uneasy, makes me doubt everything. Love will punch you in the stomach, yet nurse you back to health. Falling in love scares me, but I can’t help but want to. To want to commit to it, want to go for it, want to take the risk and see what happens. I want to take the risk of jumping, see if I land in the water, see if I swim. I want to take the jump, just to have an opportunity, not to sink, not to swim, but to fly. To me, love is a risk, but a risk everyone should get to take.
