She looks like her mother
but takes after her father
in speed of temper and wit
she has eyes like her father
but takes after her mother
in grace and denial of pain.
She thinks like her mother
but acts like her father
takes on more than she can 'till she breaks
she thinks like her father
but acts like her mother
calm in a diamond embrace.
Her heart is her mother's
but she loves like her father
intense and wholly devoted
her heart is her father's
but she loves like her mother
bridled but fiercer than shown.
Two halves make a whole
but she's cobbled like patchwork
each pattern is vital to each fold
she's a quilted creation
and though frayed at the edges
she's stitched with a thread that will hold.

The ending stanza is a perfect ending to such an amazing and thoughtful piece. I had to read it twice it was so lovely. I love how you open with the same first two lines and switch them. Keep writing!
