THIS POEM IS FOR YOU

This poem is for you
Maybe we haven't met yet
Maybe we never will
That doesn't change the fact
That I'm sitting here, writing
For you.

This poem is for you
And your friends, and parents, and grandparents
To anyone reading this
I'm thinking of you.

This poem is for you
Because I know that there will always be someone
Who is feeling alone
And I want to change that
For anyone and everyone.

This poem is for you
To encourage you to be the best you can be
In this lonely time
So that when the stay at home order
Is finally lifted
We never forget how important we are
To each other.

This poem is for you
So that even if you're sitting alone
In an apartment
Or isolated
In a hospital bed
You can hear me
And you remember
That I wrote this for you.

    you are not you.

    you are what i think
alas i refuse to admit i am wrong.
    what can i say?
i love this version of you
he is kind and sweet and loving
    so very beautiful.
  • Slippery slope

    The way is harsh
    The light is dim
And we forget to celebrate love
Instead condemning faultless faults and forged sins
    We sit in silence
Festering in our lack of empathy
Or we stand and scream because still we are not heard
