One More Night

The lights hanging from the trees,
Were bright and bold.
And the music was soft and slow.

You were wearing a white and black shirt,
Part of your costume.
Your glasses that you abandoned after this dance,
Were still on your face as I remembered.

We both knew something would end that night,
But there was a sense of hope,
That everything would stay the same.

I want to take your hand again,
But for it to not be the last time.
I want to hear the wind in the trees,
To see the stars in the sky.
As the fire blazes.

For one night I wish to go back,
To freeze that moment,
To make it last longer.

Because I never knew that would be the last time
I saw you.
Maybe this time I'll dance with you,
For one more night,
And I'll cherish it for the rest of my life.
