That one leaf

Every leaf tells a heartbreaking story

Every leaf gets swept away

Every leaf crumples

Until it is nothing but dust

Is that my story?

Am I bound to be forgotten

Like that one leaf that flew in my hair

On the one day is September

Am I bound to fly away

Will anyone pull me back to reality

Or will I keep going

Higher and higher

Till I crumple

Will I be that one leaf

That doesn't get a color

Or will I be a bright red

Will I be the leaf that gets saved for later

That is kept safe

Will I fly but have someone

Ready to pull me back to earth

Will I stay fresh

Stay bright

Stay young

Will I stay me

  • Silver arms

    Silver arms

    Reaching up

    Delicate

    And yet bearing

    Weight

    A big middle

    Rough

    Covered in patterned skin

    Big enough

    That my arms don't

    Wrap around

    The course outside

  • The moon

Bathing me in a ghoulish glow

    Brightening the dark

    Staring at me

    Barely disturbed

    All the way up there

    Floating among

    The stars

    Simply being

Bathing me in a ghoulish glow

    I love the moon
