My World at 9:00 am on a Winter Morning

The sun is out
and dew glitters
on the lawn.

It quickly vanishes
before my eyes,
melting
into the green
grass.

What once shone,
is now colored pencil dull,
awaiting
another
day.

The screen stares back at me:

    9:30 pm,

    an unfinished assignment,

    a deadline due.

My weary chest heaves a heavy breath.
