Moonlight state

I'm convinced that I'm nocturnal,
My cousin is the bat.
Although I don't hang upside down,
I should start doing that.

Awake all hours of the night
And sleeping with the sun,
I'm related to an owl,
I will the moon to come.

Perhaps the inky blackness is what calms my soul so much
Or the fairy lights thrown to the sky, perhaps my heart they touch.
Or maybe it's the silence that allows my brain to rest,
The train of thought can't operate in purplish darkness.

It could just be the notion that no one else is up,
No one else to talk to, place to walk to, tongue to cluck.
No obligation, answer, pamper, temper, be polite.
Just one steady breath of calm – frozen in the night.

I love the night, the dark, the calm
Tranquility at its best.
Luciferous, insomniac?
But no, I like my rest.

My veins are coursing, pulsing with the steady ocean tide
Waxing and then waning with a moonlight state of mind.

And so I sit and look and be,
My shadow keeps me company
I thrive at night, when it's too late,
Entranced in midnight, moonlit state.

  • A Space Among The Stars

To live in a space among the stars
    I'd have to get binoculars
To see the dentist on the moon
And find the next Uber at noon.
To live in a space among the stars
I'd have to float to school in cars.
  • Frost

    Its fingers were hot
    and cold and
    sweet and dark.
    All at the same time.

    Sleeeeep.

    It whispered in her ear.
    Her petals shivered.
    Its breath ran slowly
    down
    her stem and
    tickled a leaf.
