Iced Chai

I have never been good at trying new foods.
I tend to stick to the usual; waffles, dino nuggets, goldfish, and such…
Whenever I try something new it is monumental.
I assume it is the equivalent of a crowd after a concert has just finished;
Screaming for an encore, clapping until their hands hurt, emotions singing with the songs.

So when I tried iced chai with you at Filtered for the first time
I anticipated that my Nobel Peace Prize was waiting outside the building.
Yet all that I was met with was a gentle smile and “do you want to sit in the back of front?”
For you, this was like any other let's-get-coffee-and-call-it-a-date sort of situation.
For me, this was I-finally-got-out-of-my-comfort-zone-and-I-am-not-expelling-my-insides.
It was my first experience where I felt unburdened by the sickness I’ve had since childhood.

On our next date, I hope to tell you about all of this.
About how iced chai has become my favorite drink because it reminds me of you.
About how eating has become less of a chore because I do it for you.
About how life has become so much more bright and worth it because of you.
All because of you.
