I vow to start my homework

I'm gonna start my homework, I promise it is true.
No more fun distractions, no more TV shows and food.
I'm gonna start it – watch me. I testify today.
The homework will be finished, there's no more time for play.
The essays will get written. The math answers derived.
The English chapter finished, this time I will not lie!
Right now. I vow I'll start it.
One minute ... passed but still
I pledge I'm not a quitter.
Five minutes later ... chill.
I said I'd get to homework and so that is what I'll do.
The research project, biology, vocab test that's due,
The summary of picture books, the sixth grade notes re-write,
The Spanish poem memorized with all the grammar right,
The painting that was due last week, a lab I need to test,
Something 'bout a Van De Graf and lightning ... what's the rest?
Class pet I must return from last year, I'm not sure where he went ...
The gym homework I didn't do because 'they never sent,'
The giant map of Africa, my five times tables learned,
My senior economics project, my first grade stickers earned.
So you see? I vow, I promise you,
All this homework will get done.
No more procrastination games (but if you're asking, I have won.)
Assigned from days to years ago – but no! I never quit.

... I didn't say they'd be on time... I just said I'd get to it.

  • A Space Among The Stars

To live in a space among the stars
    I'd have to get binoculars
To see the dentist on the moon
And find the next Uber at noon.
To live in a space among the stars
I'd have to float to school in cars.
  • Frost

    Its fingers were hot
    and cold and
    sweet and dark.
    All at the same time.

    Sleeeeep.

    It whispered in her ear.
    Her petals shivered.
    Its breath ran slowly
    down
    her stem and
    tickled a leaf.
