I STAND IN THE SNOW

I stand in the snow
And watch the icicles
Dripping, ever slowly down
Surrendering to the merciless power
Of the sun's rays.

I stand in the snow
And look up at the bright blue sky.
When I was little
The sky was never clear in winter
It was always snowing
But times definitely change.

I stand in the snow
-In February-
Wearing a sweatshirt and sneakers
Reminiscing
Aboout when the snow was two feet deep
Five long years ago.

I open my eyes
I am not in the snow
There is hardly ever snow anymore.
All that remains
Are memories
And a brown, slushy puddle
A pitiful replacement
Where the snow used to be.

    you are not you.

    you are what i think
alas i refuse to admit i am wrong.
    what can i say?
i love this version of you
he is kind and sweet and loving
    so very beautiful.
  • Slippery slope

    The way is harsh
    The light is dim
And we forget to celebrate love
Instead condemning faultless faults and forged sins
    We sit in silence
Festering in our lack of empathy
Or we stand and scream because still we are not heard
