the human condition

am I just like everybody else?

sticking my nose in the pages of every magazine

watching, searching, scrolling, asking “what have you seen?”

am I just like everybody else?

preying on your downfall, I am entertained

praying on your downfall, now I should be blamed

am I just like everybody else?

checking again just to see if he’s called

cause if he hasn’t, I feel so terribly small

I am just like everybody else

quick to speak and slow to listen

I’m afraid it’s just the human condition

the human condition

the human affliction

sounds like a plague, an incurable disease

the human condition

the human conviction

sounds like a curse, an ever-present unease

but it’s all the same, and not just for me

life is a game, try to get out of jail free

keep your good name, you’re just twenty-three

but you feel the shame of the great tragedy

the human condition
