Hoping for Peace

Peace means there is no more fear, only excitement and joy and adrenaline. Peace means you are safe, wrapped in a blanket of love and solace. Peace is running through the misty forest, surrounded by the twinkling lights of dewdrops and stars. Splashing in the salty spray of the ocean’s waves. Weaving dandelions into your friend’s hair and pretending you’re fairies. Curling up by the fireplace in winter with a fluffy blanket and a spellbinding book. Pulling a tray of steaming chocolate chip cookies from the oven. Laughing with your family around a table laden with food. Sitting on the roof and watching the sun sink below the horizon, casting a rose-gold glow on the world.

Peace is such a beautiful word. Magical, even. And sometimes it feels like it is unattainable and always will be. But it is inextricably linked with another word: hope. For without hope, peace will forever be out of our grasp. So we must reach for the stars and hold on to hope, and maybe one day we will have peace.
