Gone

Swirling colors fill the air,
People laughing, filled with cheer
Boats come and go along the pier,
The happiness here has no compare

Across the world in the North,
Polar bears lumber on the ice
While fish shimmer and entice
And narwhals click back and forth

Soon enough this could all be gone,
Missing may be all thoughts of joy
As ice melts in a warm Yukon,
While hurricanes batter and destroy
And up the shore the sea is drawn,
World leaders stay silent and coy.

    Staring at the orange ball
    Patiently waiting

    Muscles poised, ready
Could be thrown at any time
    Must stay vigilant

    The ball is thrown far
