GET UP!
Twenty minutes to get to school!
How had I slept through my alarm clock this late!
The house no longer smelled like fresh morning coffee,
and greasy bacon.
It smelled like,
rushing, hectic, and a pinch of frustration.
I pulled on a t-shirt and some blue shorts and brushed my teeth with my mint toothpaste.
MILANA GET TO SCHOOL!
I hurried downstairs and grabbed my lunch and stuffed it into my homework filled backpack.
I hurried by my mom who seemed to be gathering her stuff just as fast as me.
BYE!
Bye!
I grabbed a slice of bacon, pulled on a sweatshirt, and some leather boots, and was off.
I now had ten minutes to get to class,
before the bell rung.
It wasn't that big of a deal.
I had made it five -not to brag-.
I looked up in the sky, the clouds were covering the sun.
School was just around the corner so I could take my sweet time getting ready each morning.
I munched on my cold and hard strip of bacon,
wishing I had picked something a little more enjoyable.
As I rounded the corner the hot sun peaked out from the clouds.
I don't know if I was supposed to see this on the partly sunny day,
but as I rounded the corner a golden door?
It was sleek and -gold- as well as shiny,
very shiny!
I walked over to get a closer look.
The door opened and a small penguin waddled out.
I was in love.
But then I remembered, school.
I had ten more minutes left.
Should I stay here or-
I reached for the handle of the door and it disappeared and when I reached down to pet the little penguin,
it disappeared to.
Who knew the tricks your brain could play on you while trying to get to school.
