Friends

“Are friends delight or pain?” Maybe you can pick a side, but to me it’s not so black and white. You see, in many ways friends are a delight. They’re the people you chose and who chose you because of your connection. Who you can laugh and fool around with, or complain and cry with. They bring comfort in ways no one else can, and sometimes they know you better than you may even know yourself. For me, some of my friends are my second half. Not having them around me feels empty, as though a part of me is missing. Just their presence adds a whole new light to my life. Even if we aren’t doing anything or even talking, having them around makes life better.

But sometimes the depth of that love can hurt. When you are this close with someone, when you care about them so deeply. Your attachment is impossibly strong, it hurts. It hurts to watch them be hurt by others, to watch them hurt themselves. To see them not get everything they want and deserve in life, and you can’t do a single thing about it. To watch them struggle, to see their pain, and not be able to take it away. Friends are a delight. You love them so much, and hold them so close. But because of that love and bond, they cause just as much pain.

    Just a little girl,
    Lights off,
    Eyes closed,
Unable to settle after her mind was just racing a million miles an hour,
After her feet were jumping from wall to wall,
  • Forever Tainted

The blood paints my leg as it runs down to the drain

    While I scrape him away.

A beautiful tide of red mixes into the water until it fades to clear.

The stains of his hands are an imprint on my body.

First love. The one you’ll never forget, never truly get over. Knowing that if there was ever the chance you’d run back in a heartbeat, but at the same time realizing that it was never meant to be.
