The snow is falling fast now
Thick flakes
Almost like you are alone in the world
Just your heartbeat
In time with wind flowing through the trees
Birds flit from berry bushes
To nests tucked in the safety of evergreen branches
Follow your father's huge boot tracks
Snow pants forgotten in your haste to get outside
Feel the cold on your cheeks
You're growing old now
Almost an adult
But in these quiet moments
Only the breeze and the soft hush of freshly fallen snow
You are at peace

"You are at peace." Peaceful it is. This poem so well highlights winter's quiet beauty, something easy to lose sight of when the gray days seem neverending... Lovely read.
