Aubrey Rose Blake was not one to back down. Especially when it came to a bet with Xander Ray Miller. They were seeing who could find the most hidden doors in the Miller mansion. Aubrey rounded a corner, almost running into Evelyn Miller, Xan's mom. Evelyn smiled at the sight of Aubrey, "Another bet?" She asked. Aubrey nodded too focused to form words. She looked at the wall and saw a big painting, the size of the door. She grinned and pulled it and sure enough there was a door. She snapped a photo and carried on her search. The Miller mansion recently inherited from Xan's rich great aunt was full of secret doors and passageways. After tiring herself out she shot a text to him and they decided to meet in the main living room, not to be confused with the seating room, regular living room and the chill room. By the time Aubrey got to the living room Xan was already there sitting on the couch, feet up. His eyes twinkled and his lips turned up at the sight of her, Aubrey's face matching his expression. She plopped herself down next to him and they compared photos. Just as they were finishing tallying, Oliva got a call, "What's up Mark?" There was a pause as she listened, a frown forming, "Fine," She sighed and then turned to Xander. "Xan I have to go and record the last song on my album, apparently they messed it up,” Her smile had completely disappeared. Xander could see how tired she really was, her normally perfect ponytail had stray strands framing her face. Without thinking he brushed them behind her ear like in the movies, Aubrey's eyes widened in surprise but leaned into his touch resting her head on his shoulder. This happened a lot recently, a close friendship turning into something else that neither of them were ready to admit. They sat like that for a second until Aubrey’s phone buzzed with a text from Mark telling her to hurry up. She grabbed her bag and redid her ponytail, then headed out the door. “Bree,” Xander hurried up behind her, “Want company?” She smiled and nodded her head. Together they hopped in the car Oliva behind the wheel, and took off. They were two peas in a pod. They met in preschool and from then on were inseparable. They knew everything about each other, their crushes, their obsessions, everything. Xander was with Aubrey when she released her first album, Aubrey was with Xander when he got drafted for his soccer team. They were both competitive and almost everything was a game to play. Aubrey's recording studio was right next to Xanders field meaning that they could meet whenever. This was Aubrey’s second album and Xander could sense the nerves coming off her. “Wanna talk? Or should we play the quiet game?” Xander asked with a smirk on his face. Aubrey chuckled, “On your marks get set go!” They sat in silence once more but this time both of them were fighting a laugh.

I don't know what it is
I have never wanted
Something more than I do now
The problem is
I don't know what
I don't know what
I long for
What I reach for
It's like a dream
Blurry and unrecognizable
I want this thing

Reporters
In the car
After dark
With the headlights shining
On the wet pavement
Like stars on the ground
I curl up in my seat
And the news is on
Voices fill the car
Not my own
Not my dads

Fictional Love
I want that feeling
The thing in books
In movies
The fictional love
The one I dream about
The one that I see online
The one I read about
I want not just the butterflies
