Fifth Position Relevé

You asked us to memorize this feeling
Remember the placement of every cell,
You said
So we could again arrange our bodies like wavering flowers
Roots not yet grounded into the earth.
I tried
To engrave this shape into my mind
But a few seconds wasn’t enough
To remember the miracle
Of not falling.
What I do remember:
Feels like
Fire
About to ignite into something
More powerful
A burning core
Sending flame through every limb
Look like you’re flying
And feel like you’re fighting
To stay upright
When gravity is pulling you towards it’s
Horizontal doom.
