A new year had come. No big fireworks, no bright laughter, not even a small piece of cake: an odd new year.
The first chapter of a story I've been writing.
Blood was splattered violently along the walls of a long, dark, cold, ally way. In the back left corner of it was two trash bins over flowing with garbage; untouched by any man for weeks.
When I was first brought into the boathouse, the outside world was different. The rowers were different, the clothes they wore were different, the oars they used were different, and the waters of the lake were clearer.
