Dire wolves are wolves who were extinct. They were bigger than the average gray wolf, and had a wider head, and strong jaws.
They have thick white fur, and are known for being an apex predator, and they used to hunt large ice age mammals.
They are extinct, or are they? Recently Colossal biosciences have claim to "un-extinct" them by using old DNA, cloning, and gene-editing, to re-create the Dire wolves.
Three new un-extinct dire wolves, named Romulus, Remus, and Khaleesi, are the new Dire wolves. Romulus and Remus are male, and Khaleesi is a female.
Khaleesi was named after a "Game of Thrones" character, and Remus and Romulus were named after Roman mythology.
Lots of people were in awe and excitement, but some people who skeptical, wondering if they actually were Dire wolves, or if they were just modified gray wolves.
The Dire wolf breed was extinct for around 12,500 years, and the pups are helping bring them back. The pups live in a safe 2,000 acres of land.
Romulus and Remus were born on October 1st, 2024, and Khaleesi was born on January 30th, 2025.
This is wonderful and amazing, we have recovered a breed of wolves, and we will try to keep them from extinction.
