Depression is

Depression is a funny thing
It's full of jams and jellies
And it's not like feeling empty
Boulders filling up the bellies
Depression and I walk sometimes
Along a well-worn footpath
We soak our feet in misery
They're sitting in a foot-bath
We're licking lollies full of sweet
And hoping for some razors
We pour in tears and butterflies
And then sip from the mazer
Depression makes the time meander
And the birds fly north
It makes a person hollow out
A whole becomes a fourth
All in all, a silly thing
I say to my own brain
And the funniest thing of all
Is how much I'm in pain

It was just a fluke that I happened to see

The ghost of a girl in 1893

I didn't think much of her, tried to ignore

But then she came 'round in 1894

A spirit was not something that I had wanted

Did you know that, when you wrote me, I was made of papercuts

That I was ink and glue and wax but mostly, I was papercuts

Did you know that, when you read me, I am made of memories
