Coming Home

Dear Kevin, 
Today we boarded the ship. It's small, only two stories. We were lucky to get tickets. I hope our journey is smooth and we can be with you soon.

Dear Kevin,
Today was my first full day abourd. The captain of the ship had a room built just for passengers to play checkers in! We had a tournament, and I won. There's no one in America who's as good as you at checkers. Only four more days.

Dear Kevin,
Today I heard the cook talking in a low voice to the captain. She sounded worried. It sounded like they were talking about portions. I can't wait to be home!

Dear Kevin,
Today I met a boy named Eduard. He was snobby, but good at checkers. Not as good as you, though. I can smell home already. America smells like smoke and under-cooked tuna fish.

Dear Kevin,
I don't want to worry you, but I heard the cook talking with the captain again. There might be a storm coming! Probably not as bad as the storms at home, though.
