Childhood

Childhood,

The state of being a child

Childhood,

A phase of innocence and immaturity

Childhood,

A period of pure laughter and unadulterated joy

An era of one’s life free from embarrassment,

Untangled from other’s opinions and judgment

Childhood,

Learning how to face challenges and conquer fears without a second thought

An authentic bravery that allows one to do the impossible

Childhood,

A world of unstoppable imagination and fierce creativity

A place where anything and everything is possible

Somewhere that permits one to be fully and completely oneself

Absorbed in one’s own thoughts and mind,

Not a care of the selfish world around them

Childhood,

A reality that gives one the strength to fight the monsters under their bed,

To wrestle with their troubles that seem unimportant to others, but mean everything to them

A life of infinite possibilities, dreams, and aspirations

With enough enthusiasm and unconditional ambition to achieve them

The whole world at one’s fingertips just waiting for them to unlock its multitude of opportunities

Childhood,

A temporary stage of one’s life,

Something that at one point seems endless,

Able to withstand time and reality,

But is fleeting and short-lived

Not capable of protecting itself from the outside world

An unsustainable barrier and a momentary shield from its cruel and bitter surroundings

Childhood,

A limited time of one’s life

A time that desperately tries to preserve itself,

But is inevitably engulfed by the criticism and critiques from others

A victim of the arrogance and disapproval of the world

An innocent, overcome and conquered by the harmful ways of others

An impermanent era that inescapably succumbs to the pressure of the world

Childhood,

An age that reveals one undeniable truth,

There is no return,

No re-entry,

No repeat of the magic and juvenile illusion

Created by the discovery of new and exciting things at every turn

Childhood,

A moment in time that proves impossible to revisit no matter how hard one tries

For eventually we must grow up,

We must mature,

We must find our place in this world even if it hurts

Because we have to face the crushing reality that we cannot go back,

Go back to a period of pure laughter and unadulterated joy

A phase of innocence and immaturity

The state of being a child

Childhood
