Can’t we please just be happy?

I want to be happy
the smell of brown rice and laughing with family
friends, on the couch making movies and watching them too
snuggling with my mom and reading Christmas books lighting
the Hanukkah candles and breathing in crisp air because I am
happy, so happy
Jumping in water that's so clear, anytime, any
where, the south wind blows down the coast and I laugh into the
sun, always the sun 
fresh strawberries and I 
explode
into another day, warm socks and warm hands caressing my face
oh lord, can't we please just be
happy?
