Boat

Being a boat is good, most of the time. I get stored away in a shed all winter but in the summer I am free. I float around tied to the dock all day. Around 4 in the afternoon I see the kids come running around the corner and the parents following. The kids jump right in and are ready to go before the parents are even on the boat. Once they fill me up with fuel they take off. It feels so good to cut through the water. We then stop and everyone jumps in. They kids then decide to water ski. Being a seventeen year old boat isn’t easy but it is well worth seeing the smiles on the kids faces. When the sun starts going down we take on more cruises around the lake and then I get tied back up to the dock until the next hot afternoon. Early the next morning I see all the fishing boats out on the lake. Being a boat on Lake Fairlee is nice because every other boat is familiar. Once a year I usually get trailered out of the lake and brought to a bigger lake. One year they brought me to Memphremagog and we boated up into Canada. The next year it was lake Champlain. But some summers I just stay on lake Fairlee. One very hot summer I got to go for a cruise for eight nights in a row. Every single afternoon for eight nights in a row around five every night I would see the kids come running around the corner. Every day their arms got more tan from the sun. At the end of the summer it's always sad to get put on the trailer and hauled back to the shed for the winter. But all winter I know I won't be the only one thinking about the summer adventures to come.
