"Riches, prestige, everything can be lost.
But the happiness in your own heart can only be dimmed;
it will always be there, as long as you live, to make you happy again."
That's what Anne Frank wrote in her diary on Wednesday, the 23rd of February in 1944, almost 1 year before her death. How can we, as humans, want riches and prestige when the only thing we need is happiness? Greed, taxes, selfishness, college, money, and so much more put us here. I think that the cause of these things come from our environment and the people around us. Without their influence on our actions, we would theoretically have more freedom to grow from within. Politics have also been playing big parts in people's lives, especially teens, young adults, and people in their thirties. This is because they let themselves get engulfed by the terror if the people they want for state rep or president don't get elected. My dad says that humans in the US are starting to treat politics like sports teams. Their 'side' is so good 'GO TEAM!' And the other side, 'Did you hear? Their trying to destroy democracy!' You shouldn't pay that much attention to who is the president but more who your mayor is. Because the mayor is the one who impacts your city/town the most. I think people are becoming more and more greedy and selfish because they take things to seriously, and then think that they deserve more than anyone else. But in reality, we are all equal, the same, and different all at the same time. We all might have other reasons how you became you. And then people start to criticize and everything goes down all the way to hell. If Anne Frank was still alive today, she wouldn't have been happy with how the world turned out.
