American Dream

By Miranda Brown

We can finally take a full breath of air without choking.
We can see the dead bodies burned and smoking
We can finally see the truth and the battlefield.
The beautiful reality is finally revealed
That a girl can now dream
To have just as much power as a man
Is the purpose of our land
And know that it doesn't have to be a dream anymore
Is what the American dream is for
That any person
No matter
Left or right
Polished or bruised
dark or light
That they can be who they want to be
If they will just let themselves see.
Is what we are made to do.
As Americans through and through
