Afterthoughts

Because this world is not good or evil

Not black or white

No halos or horns

This world is twisted and gray

And the afterlife is the same.

Heaven has God who watches hungrily

Dominating marionettes

Begrudgingly allowing safety

To only those who obey

God says

I love you

I control you

I have you.

Hell has doors that open wide

For souls that broke the strings

Hell has Satan who invites you in

To warm yourself

By roaring fires

Satan says

I see you

I accept you

I forgive you.

What a world we live in

Where paradise chains us to sins

And damnation has none

Where God punishes

For love

Sacrifice

Variety

And Satan takes those doomed souls

And gives them a home

We live in a world

Where God hates

And the Devil loves.

  • Escape

    With the curtains thrown wide

    we see the world gray

and we know it's the fault of our own

    Spent far too long

    bearing crown, sword, and shield

  • Pen Pal

    I write in pen

to get comfortable with my mistakes

    to catch all my thoughts

    scatterbrained

    and fleeting

pens scratch the itch to write

    better than any graphite

the use of ink before pencils

  • Where Life Begins

    I never thought I'd be 16

nor thought the grass would still be green.

At 5 I met my oldest friends

who I still talk to now and then.

    At 6 and 7, all through 10

    Nostalgic blurs remain of them.
