Afterlife

Oh, look at the leaves. 

Look at how they fly. 

 

Look at how they circle, 

Freckling the sky. 

 

Look at how they shimmer 

in the last dance 

of their lives.  

 

I hope I go like that 

when the light fades from my eyes. 

Falling further, faster, 

yet somehow still alive
