“The Red Barn” is a drawing made with alcohol markers and sharpie. It represents a day in Fall. These are the steps I took to finish the piece. I started with a quick sketch in pencil to get it set up. Then I filled each section with color using markers before I made any decisions on what designs I wanted to include. After that, I started adding the designs to the barn and I used different angles of stripes. I started the stones with different shades of gray and then decided to go over each stone with a fine sharpie to make them stand out. I drew my pumpkins, then went in with a darker orange and added a stem with a little vine spiral. I decided to use stripes on the fence to create contrast. I added little grass spikes with a darker green and then went over the spikes of grass with a sharpie. I added leaves on the trees with different colors that represented Fall. I decided to go over all the leaves with a sharpie to match the rest of it. I added different size spirals using a darker blue to represent the wind. I want my audience to notice the variation of patterns.
