Just read The Girl with the Pearl Earring. It is an incredible book that follows Griet as she leaves to make money for her family. Griet becomes a maid for a higher-class family in the 17th hundreds. This book is a commentation on the power struggles and stereotypes that maids endured in the 17th hundreds.
