Name Game
I don’t like my name
not this one, the one I stole

I never met

Winter in Vermont
I can’t leave
How could I?
I love how my nose freezes off when I walk outside in winter
How when I go out in the spring, I sink in the mud up to my thighs

note: partially inspired by Mary Oliver's "Wild Geese"

A life time
I remember the day you picked me out,
A shimmer on your wrist, young and proud.

Why I can never leave

Hurt,
And destroyed me.
And yet I can't
Seem to let them go.
Even knowing
How badly they could
