Forget-me-not
the wooden floorboards creaked from the weight, a circle on the floor like we were kindergarteners once again. never missed the 'get to know you circles' .

my dream as a poem
i had a dream a night ago,
a dream i fell in love.
in love with a childish poet.
but it was strange,
not like any dream of love i've ever had.
it was in my school cafeteria,
he was new,
-
bright red flames scream run away.
this fire was no news to me,
this has happened before,
the orange sky was vivid to me,
it was bright and scary.
many people thought it'd go away on itself,
-
field of thoughts
far away from my friends as they speak,
i never liked feeling alone.
i never liked feeling left out.
but here i am,
whenever i speak,
my words don't even go into one ear of any of my friends,
-
lies in thorns
sometimes i lie,
i lie when i want to,
and when i don't want to.
most of the time i am forced to.
forced to lie so i can survive.
i think about lying as taking a cookie from a cookie jar as a kid, -
house on the hill
when i was little,
i lived on a hill.
a grassy green hill on the outskirts of Vermont,
there was a bright red slide,
and two ferrets that i'd watch aimlessly all day,
without a care in the world.

The Library
I took a walk inside the library today,
and I noticed everything.
Two older women exchanging hellos,
kids under piles of toys,
and parents taking a breath.
2025 resolutions written by teens,

Just One?
It stained her lips blood red. “It’s only one sip,” she’d say, but I could see the darkness.
It tainted her breath with a lingering scent. “It’s only one hit,” she’d say, but I could smell the bitterness.

How they care
We're eating lunch
and someone says your name
and he asks
how is she anyway?
There's an orchestra in my heart
that's playing just for you
and playing happy now
because they care.
